About Deities

Sree Pancha Mukha Ganapathi

" Om Ekadantaya Vidmahe Vakratundaya Dhimahi Tanno Danti Prachodayat "

Pancha means Five and mukhi means faced. Panchmukhi Ganesha is embodiment of all potencies. The most relevant meaning of the five-headed Ganesh is certainly that these heads symbolize the five kosha in the subtile anatomy experienced

Annamaya kosha: the flesh body made of matter
Pranamaya kosha: the breath body, or energy body
Manomayakosha: the mental body
Vighnnamayakosha: the body of the Upper Consciousness
Anandamayakosha: the body of Cosmic Bless.

Thus, the fifth head of Ganesh symbolizes the highest level of yogic experience, called Anandamayakosha, or Sat-Chit-Ananda , the Pure Consciousness without qualification. Thus this form of Lord Ganesha brings auspicious vibrations of spirituality, harmony and bliss.

Placing Panchamukhi Vinayaka or 5 faced Ganesha facing towards east would work wonders. He is considered as the ’god of gods’. The single-headed elephant god can bestow umpteen benefits on the worshiper. But imagine, if you were to worship a five-headed elephant god – the Panchamukhi Vinayaka! The benefits are multiplied five-fold, literally speaking. In fact, the effect of Panchamukhi Vinayaka is so profound and irrevocable that all the statisticians, quality gurus, physicists, or economists of the world would not be able to measure the benefits or its effect exactly, or even remotely.

Sree Maha Vishnu

" Om Narayanaya Vidmahe Vasudevaya Dhimahi Tanno Vishnu Prachodayat "

Mahavishnu is the Super soul of all living beings (jivaatmas) in all material universes. Vishnu is identical to the formless metaphysical concept called Brahman, the supreme, the Svayam Bhagavan, who takes various avatars as “the preserver, protector” whenever the world is threatened with evil, chaos and destructive forces. His avatars (incarnations) most notably include Krishna in the Mahabharata and Rama in the Ramayana. He is also known as Narayana, Jagannatha, Vasudeva, Vithoba and Hari. He is included as one of the five equivalent deities in Panchayatana puja of the Smarta Tradition of Hinduism.Several hymns of the Rigveda repeat the mighty deed of Vishnu called the Trivikrama. Trivikrama refers to the celebrated three steps or “three strides” of Vishnu. Starting as a small insignificant looking being, Vishnu undertakes a herculean task of establishing his reach and form, then with his first step covers the earth, with second the ether, and the third entire heaven.

Lord Shivan

"Om Tat Purushaya Vidmahe Mahadevaya Dhimahi Tanno Rudrah Prachodayat "

Shiva is ‘shakti’ or power, Shiva is the destroyer, the most powerful god of the Hindu pantheon and one of the godheads in the Hindu Trinity. Known by many names – Mahadeva, Mahayogi, Pashupati, Nataraja, Bhairava, Vishwanath, Bhava, Bhole Nath – Lord Shiva is perhaps the most complex of Hindu deities. Hindus recognize this by putting his shrine in the temple separate from those of other deities.Shiva, in temples is usually found as a phallic symbol of the ‘linga’, which represents the energies necessary for life on both the microcosmic and the macrocosmic levels, that is, the world in which we live and the world which constitutes the whole of the universe. In a Shaivite temple, the ‘linga’ is placed in the center underneath the spire, where it symbolizes the naval of the earth.

The popular belief is that the Shiva Linga or Lingam represents the phallus, the emblem of the generative power in nature.Shiva is believed to be at the core of the centrifugal force of the universe, because of his responsibility for death and destruction. Unlike the godhead Brahma, the Creator, or Vishnu, the Preserver, Shiva is the dissolving force in life.

Lord Bala Subramaniyam

"Om Tatpurushaya Vidmahe Mahasenanaya Dhimahi Tanno Shanmukha Prachodayat "

Subramaniyam is the Hindu god of war and form of Lord Agni. He is the Commander-in-Chief of the army of the devas. He is also the primary deity of the Kaumaram sect of Hinduism.Murugan is worshiped primarily in areas of Tamil speaking population. His six most important shrines in India are the Six Abodes of Murugan also known Arupadaiveedu  literally meaning six warhouses, temples located in Tamil Nadu. The six abodes are Thiruthani, Swamimalai, Palani, Pazhamudircholai, Thirupparankunram and Thiruchendur. The story of Lord Muruga is described in Skanda Purana.

Goddess Parvathi granted him his unique weapon sakthi Vel. With this weapon he slained the asura tarakasura, sighnamugasura (lion faced asura) who are the brothers of Suraabaathman. Lord Murga then killed Suraabaathman and turned two halves of his body to cock flag and a peacock. The slaying of asura is grantly celebrated in Tiruchendur as “surasamhaaram” in the Tamil month of “i-pasi” annually in Tamilnadu.

The third eye of Lord Shiva’s power was so intense that all other deities could not stand before. Then the divine spark appeared and settled in six lotuses in Saravana lake nearby Ganges river. Later the six children in six lotuses was taken care and nurtured by the Kaarthigaas (angels of stars) by the order of Lord Agni. The name Karthigeya of Lord Muruga was kept after these Karthigas to honor them by Agni.
